So cool!
Definitely a crazy choice of color on a crazy character.
I really dig the mouth area.

hey Rick.the black on the head is so unexpected that i think it works well.it is not at all what i thought of when first seeing the sculpt.love the eyes even more now.maybe, and only maybe, use some other color for the white area of the shirt, perhaps a creme or lightly hued color,i feel a disconnect between the flesh and the trunk.with all the black i think those two areas should be in harmony a bit more.only a suggestion.cool stuff as always.later

Thanks Jake glad you like the colour scheme, funny you should say that Todd the shirt
was originally painted creme,I will go with creme when I paint the final version,
about the black the reason I went with that colour is that I wanted to show a clear seperation
From the flesh tone, the side shot shows it well, the black shape goes through the ear and ends under
The chin and is not attached to the trunk the black area becomes a seperate shape to the flesh, also it has that 1920's cartoon style Felix
The cat,mickey mouse feel.
Hope I explained it ok so you get the vibe of the piece.

oh hey Rick,i hope you didn't misunderstand my comment.i think it looks great.i just thought that with the black the the other parts needed something to tie them together more strongly.i see the Felix vibe.now to be annoying i ask if the blacks will have different finishes,glosss/flat whatever? i think the piece is really unique, would love to own it.cool stuff, later

Not a problem todd, please feel free to comment on my work I'm easy going when it comes to my work and won't be offended, which I know you wasn't being,I'm not too great at explaining myself lol,I'm better with diagrams.
The black is going to have a matt finish, the reason this one has a gloss finish is that it was a birthday present for a friend and my matt gloss had dried out so all I had to protect it from scratches was gloss varnish and scratches show up more on black areas, that's the reason why its glossy.
If you see the flesh as something seperate too the black area it creates an oddness to the piece and the hole in the centre represents enlightenment,I was going to call the piece fools gold as enlightenment is represented as something joyous that's why he has a dumb grin on his face like he's been labotomized, but enlightenment is never considered as something that could have a negative effect on the psyche.
